REGIONALISM III

During Regionalism, no aesthetic position served as a better vehicle for the ideology of the scenographic culture that movement demanded than genre painting, heiress of the flemish kermeses, not to forget the feeling for a Spanish and castilian landscape, typical of the 1898 generation. We find an intimate and singular genre which deals with local customs, the portrait, the city´s reinventions, and also a single and almost religious painting in some of the artists of this volume.
